The Court of Appeal of Lithuania hears only civil and criminal cases. This court is an appeal instance court for the decisions or rulings of the regional courts.

The Court of Appeal of Lithuania hears civil cases on the basis of an appeal that can be lodged within 30 days from the day the challenged ruling was made (Article 307(1) of the Code of Civil procedure of the Republic of Lithuania) or a separate appeal that can be lodged within 7 days of the day the decision was made (Article 335 of the Code of Civil Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania). Noteworthy, a decision of the regional court may be appealed by a separate appeal to the Court of Appeal of Lithuania separately from the court ruling in the cases provided by the Code of Civil Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania or when the court ruling prevents any possibility of continuing the case.

The requirements for the appeal and the appeal procedure in the court is regulated by Articles 301–339 of the Code of Civil Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania.

The Court of Appeal of Lithuania hears criminal cases on the basis of an appeal that can be lodged within 20 days from the day the challenged ruling was made (Article 313(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania).

The requirements for the appeal and the appeal procedure in the court is regulated by Articles 311–334 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania.

The requirements for the application for recognition (refusal of recognition) and (or) permission to enforce foreign court judgments (arbitral awards) are established in the European Union Law, international law (international treaties between the Republic of Lithuania and foreign states) and the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania.

The application with annexes can be submitted to the Lithuanian Court of Appeal directly, sent by post (The Court of Appeal of Lithuania, Gedimino Ave. 40, LT-01503 Vilnius, Lithuania) or submitted via the Electronic Service Portal (EPP) system.
